This temperature graph is generated using high-resolution numerical weather prediction data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) HRES model and the UK Met Office forecasting system.
Forecast data is retrieved at 6-hour intervals for the selected location via API integration. The backend processes this data to calculate daily maximum (Tmax) and minimum (Tmin) temperatures. These values are then visualized using Highcharts for an interactive user experience.
To support impact-based forecasting and early warning, temperature values are classified into heatwave and coldwave categories based on threshold ranges defined by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
| Category | Temperature Range (°C) | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 10 – 36 | No cold stress |
| Mild Coldwave | 8 – 10 | Slight cold discomfort |
| Moderate | 6 – 8 | Noticeable cold stress |
| Severe | 4 – 6 | High cold risk |
| Very Severe | ≤ 4 | Extreme cold hazard |
| Category | Temperature Range (°C) | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 10 – 36 | Comfortable range |
| Mild Heatwave | 36 – 38 | Elevated heat |
| Moderate | 38 – 40 | Significant heat stress |
| Severe | 40 – 42 | Dangerous conditions |
| Very Severe | > 42 | Extreme heat hazard |
